STS has prepared and submitted two reviews of the cycling infrastructure that was installed as part of the recent (2004-2010) upgrade of Highway 99 (sea to sky highway), providing documentation and recommendations for improvement that will benefit the community in the long-term.

STS has collaborated with District of Squamish to find solutions for cycling lanes, and to advocate for improved cycling lane networks in the community. This continues to be an area of work and dedication.

Pearson Financial has funded equipment for a group of STS volunteers to clear vegetation from key trails on a weekly basis, so that they maintain clear access and visibility during the spring/summer season of growth.

STS works with developers with District applications, to maintain and improve connectivity of the trail network in the community as a result of site development and changing land use.

The Squamish Trails Society has been contracted for a number of years to organize, cook, and serve barbecued meals to hungry riders in the Test of Metal and spectators, at the finish line. This is a fundraiser that relies on lots of community partnerships, volunteer effort, and fun. In 2010 the proceeds that will go to community trail work were over $5000.00. STS is participating on an advisory committee. The goal is to create a plan that includes network improvements, infrastructure and strategies to ensure good access for all residents in the community – emphasizing non-automobile transport.
